July Artist: Caitlin Lynch

"Family of Curiosities 3"

Caitlin Lynch is the featured artist for July at the Artist Within. Her one-artist show entitled
"Auto.Bio.Graphical" opens First Thursday, July 1 with an artist reception from 5-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
Ms. Lynch explores a variety of drawing and painting mediums and has a series done in coffee stains and watercolors. A recent BFA graduate of Ball State University, Cat grew up in the Munci/Yorktown area . She states that "just making things" goes back as far as she can remember and lists the artists who have most influenced her work as: painters William DeKooning and Mark Rothko as well as sculptors Eva Hesse and Ann Hamilton. The title of her show, "Auto.Bio.Graphical" refers to a common thread that runs throughout her work:
"Auto- as in about me", "Bio.-as in all narratives coming from my life" and "Graphical.-because each piece is contains illustrative elements"
Cat Lynch states ,"Inspiration comes from everywhere-philosophy, pulp novels, candy wrappers or even a funny phrase or song that gets stuck in my head."
